Family Welfare Centers

Operating in defined geographical areas the Family Welfare Centers (FWC) actively promote voluntary family planning. These centers mostly operate in rented buildings and serve as static facility for about 7,000 people. Furthermore, through its satellite clinics and outreach facilities, they cover an additional population of around 20,000 – 25,000.

The FWC’s scope of work includes:

  • Counseling for family planning
  • Provision of temporary family planning methods
  • Provision of Maternal and Child Health (MCH) services
  • Treatment of minor ailments
  • Management of reproductive tract infections/sexually transmitted infections (RTls/STls)
  • Referral of family planning clients to Family Health Clinics
  • In-charge of FWC is also trained in midwifery and provides domiciliary services on request from the client
